Essex
The new Essex Branch, a 35,769-square-foot library, will be built on a 4.5-acre site along Old Eastern Avenue. This preliminary design was shaped by extensive community input, ensuring it reflects both the history and spirit of Essex while providing a welcoming space for all.
On April 16, County Executive Kathy Klausmeier included a referendum to authorize more than $58 million in bond funding to build a replacement Essex Branch in her annual budget message. This bond initiative must now be approved by the Baltimore County Council before it goes to the ballot for public vote in the November general election.
