Virtual Book Display: National Senior Citizens Day
Baltimore County Public Library invites you to join us in observing National Senior Citizens Day, observed annually on August 21. National Senior Citizens Day recognizes the accomplishments, contributions, and wisdom of older adults while raising awareness of issues that can affect people as they age, including ageism, health changes, social isolation, caregiving needs, elder abuse, and barriers to independence. This virtual book display, curated by the library’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council, explores the many dimensions of later life through fiction, memoir, essays, practical guides and picture books. These selections celebrate love, friendship, creativity, adventure, community, resilience, and new beginnings while giving thoughtful perspectives on aging, accessibility, health, technology, and care. Together, they invite readers of all ages to appreciate older adults as complex individuals whose lives hold possibility, purpose, humor, and joy.
