Take the Library With You This Memorial Day
Memorial Day is the unofficial kickoff to summer, which means longer days and more time outdoors. In observance of the holiday, our branches are closed but you can still take us with you! Whether you’re headed out of town to be with family or doing a staycation, here’s how we can help:
- Digital Library—We have books, music, movies and comics free to download instantly.
- Grab a book or magazine on CloudLibrary and Libby.
- Download your road trip playlist with the hottest albums from hoopla.
- Enjoy a movie night with free options from Kanopy.
- Grab your items early—Our 18 operating branches are open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come browse our shelves and grab your favorite books, CDs or video games to take with you on your adventure. We also suggest browsing our Library of Things for board games, Adventure Kits or our new karaoke machines.
- Be Surprised Bundles—If you’re not sure what to bring with you, try our Be Surprised Bundles. Fill out a form indicating your preferences and then our librarians will handpick up to five items customized for you. There is a few days turnaround time for the bundles, so we recommend getting the forms in early!
- Story Trails—Enjoy the outdoors over the holiday at one of our four story trails. Story trails are a great way to promote both early learning skills—by encouraging families to read together—and health literacy—by encouraging families to get outside and walk trails together.
Looking Ahead
After the holiday, we’re full steam ahead with our Summer Reading Challenge—Color Our World. Our kickoff party is set for Saturday, June 7, at our Perry Hall Branch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Register for the challenge, enjoy music and crafts, and grab a free book.
