Teens wanted! Let your voices be heard as the library looks for input on programs, services and new initiatives for you and your peers. Applications are being accepted for our Teen Advisory Board (TAB) through Sunday, October 13. Members of TAB:

  • Gain leadership and teamwork skills
  • Create a teen-led community service project in their community
  • Advise their local branches with ideas for new programs, services and initiatives for teens
  • Earn service-learning hours
  • Make new friends

Expectations

TAB is a five-month commitment from November 2024 through March 2025 for middle and high school students. Selected teens are expected to:

  • Attend a monthly meeting from November through March at their selected branch
  • Actively participate in the creation of a community service project
  • Work well in a team, as well as independently
  • Have excellent communication skills

New This Year

Our teens spoke and we listened. This school year, we are creating more opportunities for teens to get involved by offering TAB at individual branches or a smaller cluster of branches, like our summer TAB program. In the past, some teens expressed difficulty participating in our program due to meeting locations. With this change, we hope more can participate at a branch closer to their homes and create projects in their direct community.

Complete an Application

This is a competitive application process. TAB members are selected based on a variety of criteria, including proper and thoughtful completion of the application, timely submission of the application, availability and the number of teens that apply per branch. Fifteen teens for each TAB will be selected. All applicants will be notified of their application status by Friday, November 1.

Due to the timing of the reopening, staff were unable to organize TAB this year at the Catonsville Branch. We encourage teens to apply to a nearby branch or cluster.
