2019 Reading Challenge

The WBAL Channel logo.

We've partnered with WBAL-TV to promote literacy in 2019. Each month, WBAL's on-air personalities will recommend a book they have enjoyed reading from the library’s collection and encourage viewers to stop by a library branch and pick up a book for themselves.

The WBAL team member’s selection, along with a series of similar suggestions (read-alikes) recommended by the library’s Collection Development Department, will be displayed at our 19 branches throughout Baltimore County. New read-alike lists will be posted on our Between the Covers blog each month.

Read a new book each month and post a photo of your selection on social media with #BWELLREAD to be entered to win a $25 gift card. Don’t forget to make your post public so we can see it!

To submit your entry, visit Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and post or tweet a photo of yourself holding the book the WBAL-TV anchor or reporter suggested, or your choice from the library’s monthly list of “read-alikes,” with #BWELLREAD. Camera-shy participants may post a photograph of the book they’ve chosen.

The photo and hashtag will together be referred to as an "entry." Photos must be in a format compatible with Facebook, Twitter or Instagram file format and size restrictions. Unlimited entries are permitted during the promotion, but only one prize will be awarded per account. Posts must be public or they will not be seen.

Entries must be received by 4 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on the last business day of each month to be eligible for consideration. No correspondence about entries will be entered into, nor will entries be acknowledged as received. If all required information is not included, entry will be disqualified. The library is not responsible for late or incomplete entries.

By entering this promotion, the entrant gives his or her consent for the library to use photo for promotional and marketing purposes.
