Battle of the Books 2020 is Now Virtual

Many elementary and middle school students have spent most of the school year reading Maryland Black-Eyed Susan nominees in preparation for Battle of the Books, a book-based competition where students compete in teams to answer questions related to the content of the books. Due to COVID-19, the competitions were cancelled. In an effort to celebrate and still recognize the efforts of each and every participating student, we have replaced the battle with a series of virtual events.  

Review the Questions

Review the elementary school (PDF) or middle school (PDF) battle questions.

Work with your teammates virtually to see if you can answer all of the questions. On Thursday, June 4 (details below), we will reveal the answers in videos on our YouTube page. We won't be scoring or judging, just giving the answers so you can see how you did!

Show Some Love—Ask a parent or guardian to email a photo of you to with your favorite Battle of the Books title or quote and why you loved participating. Select students will be featured on Baltimore County Public Library’s social media pages.
