First Stop: Marshy Point Nature Center

On Saturday, August 24, our librarians will host a lively discussion of The River by Peter Heller at the Marshy Point Nature Center. USA Today describes the book as a “poetic and unnerving wilderness thriller.” The River is a tale about friendship, survival and the power of nature.  Following the discussion, participants can enjoy a free guided canoe trip led by a park naturalist or take a self-guided walk on one of Marshy Point’s beautiful nature trails. As this is an outdoor event, please bring bug spray.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

  • 10:30 a.m. – Gather behind the Nature Center Building for a discussion of The River.
  • 11:15 a.m. – Canoe trip* with Marshy Point naturalist or self-guided walk on park nature trails.

*Space is limited for the canoe trip and registration is required. To reserve your spot for the canoe trip, call 410-887-7586 or email mobile-adult@bcpl.net.
