New Books Coming to Baltimore County’s Little Free Libraries
July 05, 2018 | By Baltimore County Public Library
Jenna Bush Hager with The Today Show launched a new initiative, “Read More TODAY," on Monday. The new series highlights the importance of reading and included the unveiling of a Little Free Library on the Today Show Plaza. Little Free Libraries help to promote literacy by encouraging reading. They operate on a simple premise: take a book for you to read and leave a book for the next person.
Baltimore County Public Library has five Little Free Libraries that were unveiled this past spring. Students at Eastern Technical High School created the structures for the library. The boxes are maintained by their local Baltimore County Public Library and offer unrestricted access to books.
Catonsville Community Park (Catonsville)
Double Rock Park (Parkville)
Eastern Regional Park (Essex)
Heritage Park (Dundalk)
Northwest Regional Park (Owings Mills)
The library will be stocking the boxes with the recommendations of the Today Show anchors and the WBAL-TV's morning team. Even Camden, WBAL-TV's "Puppy with a Purpose," has a “recommended” read.
