Notary Service Now Available in the Essex Branch

A Notary looking over paperwork

The library’s Essex Branch is now the first of the system’s 19 locations to offer notary service. The service, which debuted on August 1, costs $3 per signature and is available to the public seven days per week during regular branch business hours—no appointment necessary.

How It Works

Notary Services screen the signers of important documents for their true identity, their willingness to sign without duress or intimidation and their awareness of the contents of the document or transaction.

Customers must bring a valid, current photo ID, and all signers must be present. No documents should be signed before visiting the branch. Payment can be made by cash or credit.

This pilot program is funded by a $1,000 Foundation for Baltimore County Public Library grant, and all 12 full-time Essex Branch employees are trained Notaries Public.
