Library on the Go, Senior
Makes community stops for convenient check out and return of library materials, providing an item reservation and delivery service. This, our biggest vehicle at 32 feet in length, carries approximately 3000 volumes and was added in 2000.

Library on the Go, Junior
Visits senior centers, retirement homes, and special needs schools. This smaller 26 foot vehicle carries about 2,000 volumes and works in conjunction with the larger Library on the Go to deliver library services throughout Baltimore County.

Library on the Go, Senior and Junior both provide:

  • New and popular novels and non-fiction books
  • Books for children of all ages
  • Books on CD
  • Magazines
  • Access to all of the circulating books of BCPL

Requesting Materials
Select 'Library on the Go' as your pick-up branch or ask a library staff member to request a book for you.

Returns are accepted from any branch and material checked out from Mobile Library Services may be returned to any branch.

Fees can be paid on the bookmobile by using a personal check or money order. Cash is not accepted on the bookmobile. Fees may also be paid at any branch of the Baltimore County Public Library.

About Read Rover and Read Rover Plus

Read Rover and Read Rover Plus support BCPL's mission to foster a lifelong love of reading in children. This is accomplished through our monthly visits to licensed day care providers.

Each month we perform a story time and help providers to check out materials. Our story time programs incorporate pre-reading skills which prepare the children for entering school.

Our storytellers model successful techniques during the programs to teach day care providers important early literacy skills that they can then share with the children and their parents.

Themed flyers are distributed each month containing booklists, reading tips, a rhyme or fingerplay, and a craft. Picture books, teacher resources, easy non-fiction, concept books, CDs, DVDs, and storytelling materials are all available for checkout to further support this goal.
