The Essex Branch will close for extensive internal renovations and repairs on Wednesday, October 1 and is expected to re-open in early December.

The book drop will not be available. Returns can be made at any other branch.

Hold requests that were placed for pickup at the Essex Branch or that were not picked up by September 30 will be sent to our North Point Branch.

Planned renovations include new shelving to accommodate more materials, paint, carpet and an updated information desk. New computers will also be installed. Closing the branch temporarily allows the work to be done in a timely manner in order to get the branch fully back up and running.

While the branch is closed, please visit nearby libraries such as the North Point, Sollers Point, Rosedale and White Marsh branches, which are accessible by public transit from the Essex community.

Located in the Middlesex Shopping Center, the Essex Branch has over 14,000 square feet filled with books, CDs, DVDs, magazines and much more. A computer center provides free internet and word processing. Children's computers have a wide variety of stories and learning games for preschoolers.
