Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The virus is transmitted by blood, semen, vaginal fluids and breast milk. If you suspect exposure, it is important that you be tested promptly.

Baltimore County Department of Health - HIV / AIDS Services

Operates anonymous, free, walk-in counseling and testing sites throughout the county. Testing hours are different at each site. Call 410-887-2437 for the location and hours of the centers nearest you.  TTY users call via Maryland Relay Because of the time needed to process the test, people who are tested must return to the clinic in two weeks for results.

 

People infected with HIV may contact the Health Department for referrals and assistance in their health care case management at 410-887-AIDS (410-887-2437). General information about HIV/AIDS is answered on the AIDS information line Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at 410-887-AIDS.

provides peer counseling assistance to people at all stages of HIV infection on virtually any HIV-related problem or concern. This assistance is particularly useful for people who have recently tested positive for HIV or are newly diagnosed with AIDS and who need basic information on available services and direction on how to navigate the available government entitlement programs.
