Even Start Family Literacy Program

This free program provides early childhood education, parenting and adult
education focusing on the needs of the entire family. During the parent's
adult education time, the children will be participating in an early
childhood program. Program includes parent and child interaction time and
family home visits. Serves parents who are eligible for Academic Skills
Enhancement (ASE), General Education Diploma (GED), or English for Speakers
of Other Languages (ESOL) classes, and who have at least one child
age 10 or younger at the time of registration.

H.I.P.P.Y. (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters)

Weekly home visits are made by trained paraprofessionals who role play
scripted activities with parents. A parent is requested to work with each
child 15 to 20 minutes each day to support classroom instruction beyond the
home visit. Families with children in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten
in certain Title I schools are eligible to participate in this program.

Resource Centers for Families and Schools
5 centers provide educational and instructional resources for teachers and
Baltimore County families. Each center is equipped with materials and staff to
assist parents, day-care providers, and community-based organizations with
educational resources that support learning. Offers disability support,
parent materials, home school liaison and an outreach library. Provides
instructional materials and production equipment, lending library of
instructional materials for Baltimore County Public School (BCPS) teachers,
a Parent Information Center, and an Outreach Library for Baltimore County Public School parents,
programs/workshops, information and support to strengthen the instructional
programs for all Baltimore County students. Offers parent support in special
education for parents of children with disabilities. Call center for hours.

Clinic for ages 1 to 14 utilizes "movement and fitness therapy", geared toward
total developmental needs of each child. It serves
children with emotional, social and physical challenges and their parents,
in a recreational and educational environment. Acceptance on referral basis
only, but concerned parents may call to be referred to a private physician
to confirm need for therapy. Referrals from professional personnel usually
are for faulty neuromuscular control and/or physical fitness or other types
of developmental problems. It is not a formal medical, physical therapy,
occupational therapy or psychotherapy program. Children are matched with
trained volunteer clinicians who guide them as they play and learn.

Provides services that focus on successful parenting through individualized
intensive home visitation support to families of children from the prenatal
stage through age 5. Initial contact must occur from the prenatal stage
through two weeks following the birth. Services are voluntary and available
to families in specific communities in Baltimore County.

A traveling resource center with technological and material resources to
assist parents in helping their children learn. The Parentmobile travels to
Baltimore County schools, community fairs, apartment complexes, and local
businesses. Parent Services Assistants on the bus help parents and
community members access information about Baltimore County Public Schools
programs and resources. Visitors can learn about the services and resources
available to them and their children that promote learning and increased
