Choosing child care may be one of the most important decisions you will ever make. Finding affordable, quality care that will meet your needs can be a difficult task but many resources are available to help you. There are a variety of child care options, including regulated center or home care, informal care, camps, before and after school care, nannies, au pairs, etc. The right option depends on you and your child's needs. The time and effort it takes to find quality care for your child will be worth it.

The child care resource and referral center for Baltimore County. Provides
parents with child care referrals through the LOCATE Child Care referral
service and information on evaluating the quality of child care and a
variety of parenting issues. Facilitates efforts to enhance the quality of
child care in Baltimore County.
Offers technical assistance and training to future and current child care
providers.

LOCATE: Child Care is a statewide online child care resource and
referral counseling service which counsels parents about the wide variety of
regulated child care available and identifies program options which match
parental needs. Statewide information on child care centers, family child care
providers and Maryland State Department of Education ( M S D E ) approved
programs available. LOCATE services are available by phone, Monday Friday,
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Responsible for all child care licensing
activities within Baltimore County.
This agency registers family child care
homes and child care centers and monitors compliance with state
requirements. Investigates complaints about both
registered and non-registered providers. Conducts preliminary inspections of
centers and homes. Provides help and information to people getting started
in day care. If you intend to apply for a license to operate a family child
care operation or child care center, you or your representative must attend
an orientation session held by the Regional III Office.

World of Care is a day care center designed to care for sixty-three medically fragile
children six weeks to five years who have a medical condition that requires
daily nursing intervention,
such as pulmonary insufficiency, I.V. therapy or ventilator dependency. Also
offers on-site physical, occupational and speech therapy.

Provides on-site training, consultation and support to child
care providers caring for children with special needs in licensed child care
settings. Offers parent training as well. Provides access to adaptive materials

specifically individualized plans for children with a disability or
